Welcome to Lea, who's trying out for a spot on our editorial team. Enjoy!

Biking is the perfect opportunity to see our world in a new way. We walk the same streets, drive around the same corners and park in the same parking lots day after day. Getting on a bike when we can gives us a different perspective. It opens up our peripheral sight line and lets us see things we might not usually see: beautiful things. What could make biking even more aesthetically pleasing? Wood!

Wood reminds us of simpler times. Its interesting grain, stunning finishes and heirloom appeal make it the ideal addition to our commute. Not to mention wood is sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and capable of high performance. Whether it's a whole bike frame or just a bike light, wood is good.

2 Wooden Bikes, $2,400 from Renovo Bicycles. Renovo has been creating exceptional handcrafted, wooden bikes out of Portland, Oregon since 2007.
3 Cherry Wood Bike Fenders, $65 from OffCutStudio: the custom hand-fabricated wooden fender fits like a glove over most rear wheels.
4 Wooden Bike, by Ricor: This stunning design idea was dreamed of by a photographer, and is inspired by new technology created by the camera manufacturer Olympus.
5 Holzweg wooden frame idea: This beautiful concept bike is the brainchild of German designer Arndt Menke Zumbr├Ągel.

Thanks, Lea!
