Switching Out Old for New (to Me) Furniture via Craigslist

I posted yesterday about how, after trolling Craigslist for what months, I finally found just the kind of wingback chairs I had been looking for. Today, I'll share with you the story of how I turned three old pieces of unwanted furniture into the ones I wanted – no magic wand required…

Now, I would like to be able to say that I first sold the old pieces I no longer wanted and then sought out the chairs of my dreams but I'm far too impatient for that. So the old furniture sat around cluttering dust until I found my wingbacks and then I listed the old stuff on Craigslist. It actually kind of worked out better that way. After buying the wingback chairs I was able to figure out how much I wanted for the old furniture.

And so that's how it worked out. I brought home the new-to-me wingbacks and ottoman, for which I spent $200, and then immediately lugged the old pieces outside and photographed them. Within an hour I had all the pieces listed on Craigslist — and within two days they had all sold.

I didn't get exactly enough out of the old pieces to pay for the wingbacks, but it was quite close. The mission style chair went for $65, the small table went for $25, and the little medical stool sold for $20. While that only adds up to $110, I can almost consider it even because I had gotten a little spending money from a kind aunt for my birthday earlier this month.
